Below is a trailer for the first movie in the April Earth Month double feature, The 11th Hour. This global warming documentary is produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. It was released in 2007 and this will be the first public screening in Springfield.
I saw it in Chicago last year and immediately decided I wanted to arrange a showing in Springfield if it didn't come to theaters here. People will inevitably compare it to An Inconvenient Truth but this movie has a different focus. First, it features more experts from a variety of backgrounds giving more opinions about how we got where we are and what it will take to to get out.
The 11th Hour spends less time attempting to prove the science of global warming and more time discussing the severity of the problem, and the fundamental shift in attitudes about economic growth and consumption it will take to avert a crisis. Much like An Inconvenient Truth, you'll finish the movie ready to take action and the post-movie program will feature information from the Sierra Club and other environmental groups working on climate change.
Thom Hartmann wrote a good review for the DVD release and there's an April Fool's review of the Director's Cut that sounds pretty good.
